About me
Photographer documenting the nocturnal side of life.
My teenage years were spent in the south west of England just as acid house evolved into the birth of the UK rave scene in the early 90s.
I’m a British Asian, gay and neurodivergent. During that decade I found it difficult to relate to mainstream teenage culture. Looking for a tribe that resonated with me led me to the rave scene and its culture.
I remembered the sheer release and freedom of expression from dance music mesmerised me, where a diverse range of people were welcome. Life is a celebration and how much more of a celebration can it be when you’re dancing the night away with thousands of others in a field, warehouse or club, united by the beat.
Out of the darkness was the light.
From those early days of discovering dance culture, the excitement and sense of connection and community at an event has never left me.
Since those early days, I have been in pursuit of the alternative, the release from the norm, away from 9-to-5’s, conformity, the mainstream. Searching for that release that nightlife breaths into us. Admiring the dreamers, the artists and performers who provide the sight and sounds for that utopian paradise, that sheer spectacle. Just for one night. United in dance.
We live as one family.
